Almost 15 months ago we launched with the promise to always bring the latest validation technologies to market. Today LayerZero is doing just that by rolling out a production grade zk light client from the @PolyhedraZK team. The @PolyhedraZK team’s zkLightClient is based off of their renowned work on zkp (arxiv.org/abs/2210.00264). Built exclusively on LayerZero, it’s custom circuits produce significant compression and allow multiple tx verifications to be batched into a single zero-knowledge proof.

Today we introduce a new project codenamed Essence, which separates security and operational burden. Essence allows anybody to spin up and run a validator (Oracle & Relayer) in <1 hour. Before, validators took months to build and required the support of a full devops team. This is both flawed and also ignores the fact that every single bridge hack of the past few years come from a shared security model. Billions lost and still those pushing middlechains are crying “trust us” The argument equivocates to saying “GnosisSAFE is not secure because I can setup a SAFE with malicious signers” or “Ethereum is not secure because someone can deploy an upgradable or malicious contract on top of it”.
