This war was perhaps over before the first shots were fired.

Our sins in alienating our brothers were legion - anyone who denies that would be lying to themselves.

But we don't need to rely on stories of horrors that weren't to learn from the ruin we brought upon ourselves. Since we were on this subject I'll share a story known to me.

A story of war, unspeakable tragedy, providence, a good man and a son he came to raise.

God knows there's always plenty to keep us bogged down with troubles at home.

So much wrong and an endless stream of things to constantly address.

But sometimes it's good to just stop and focus on the things done right and take inspiration from them to keep ourselves going 27th Feb is one such day.

Can look back at it and the few days immediately after them and take a lot of heart with the way we behaved as a country.

With the way our leadership behaved.

With the way we stood firm.

My maternal grandfather, Nana, a Gunner from no. 2 PMA - 16 SP was a young Lt. during the Anti Ahmedi riots of the 50s.
Rampaging mobs of mullahs were out buring and looting.
Him and a small detachment of soldiers plus a JCO under his command manned a piquet. They had been given the task of not letting any mob pass beyond their position.
My Nana remembers he was very nervous. He had no experience or training of facing such a situation.
I remember him telling me how 😟 he was he would make a wrong move and get his men killed.
