for context, @BriannaWu seems to be saying all this because somebody earlier today asked her point blank “do you think trans people should have to prove they are dysphoric in order to be given the tools to medically transition” I cant find screenshots of the second tweet in the ORIGINAL thread, but she literally used the words “academic symposium” a second time, leading me to believe these two thoughts are connected.

Trans women are one of the most unprotected groups of ppl out there right now. Most of our basic rights (being able to access medical care, being able to go to a public restroom) are seen as luxuries, as a byproduct of a society thats “unjust” towards the “normal” people. Trans women usually don’t feel like we defend ourselves verbally, much less physically god forbid, as we are stereotyped as “aggressive men” before we even have a chance to rebut. (This phenomenon is often worse for trans women of color, especially Black trans women)

-the same beauty standards are forced on our bodies
