for context, @BriannaWu seems to be saying all this because somebody earlier today asked her point blank “do you think trans people should have to prove they are dysphoric in order to be given the tools to medically transition” A deleted tweet from briann...An earlier thread between b...Jaz: “is it testing gender ... I cant find screenshots of the second tweet in the ORIGINAL thread, but she literally used the words “academic symposium” a second time, leading me to believe these two thoughts are connected.

Trans women are one of the most unprotected groups of ppl out there right now. Most of our basic rights (being able to access medical care, being able to go to a public restroom) are seen as luxuries, as a byproduct of a society thats “unjust” towards the “normal” people. Trans women usually don’t feel like we defend ourselves verbally, much less physically god forbid, as we are stereotyped as “aggressive men” before we even have a chance to rebut. (This phenomenon is often worse for trans women of color, especially Black trans women)

“trans women arent real women”

-we get death threats from people who also wanna fuck us
-our bodily autonomy is constantly threatened by the govt
-the same beauty standards are forced on our bodies
-we all overpack for sleepovers/vacations

idk bro sounds like womanhood to me “Left at London, saying three serious things, & then a joke.” Larry King from the 30 rock...

What bothers me about people like elon (who couldn’t give a shit about his internalized bigotry) saying this kind of stuff is that it makes it impossible to discuss our problem with treating people as disposable without sounding like you’re trying to avoid accountability yourself Cancel culture tends to be the term used by people who hate being held accountable. accountability is not a problem, it’s just a tough situation that everybody (not just by people in the public eye) will face. Its not “cancelling”, its confrontation. & its not inherently bad.

There’s been a lot of talk about Warren vs. Sanders, & in an election this high stakes, it’s very important to discuss what makes Sanders & Warren different. They may have similarities, but who actually is the more progressive candidate?

(THREAD) Let’s start with numbers before we get into politics; No matter who you prefer, these polls show that as of today, Sanders has statistically a better chance of beating Trump than Warren, with Warren temporarily faltering behind Trump for almost an entire month. So why is that? A poll from Real Clear Politics showing that between Sanders & Trump, Sanders has always been in the lead by a wide margin.A poll from Real Clear Politics showing that between Warren & Trump, Warren lead in a wide margin until the beginning of this year, which she would have lost to Trump if an election were to happen that month. Now she leads by a very small margin.A poll from Emerson Polling from Feb 16-18 showing that Sanders is the only candidate that'd beat trump.
