Librarians- now might be a good time to review our collections on Islam and make certain our libraries are not contributing to the mentality that inspires Islamophobic hate crimes and white supremacist terror in our own communities. #LibrariesAreNotNeutral For the record, I just reviewed the collection in one of the libraries where I currently work and immediately found a book of explicitly Islamophobic far-right propaganda. We looked into it and found a previous librarian (who left before I arrived) purchased it.

This is going to be a long thread. On the subject of #NoHateALA I want to bring attention to something. The explicit welcoming of hate groups in the meeting room interpretation was justified with cases where libraries were sued by white supremacists (1/25) The citations at the bottom of the (now rescinded) revision included cases where white supremacists tried to use library meeting rooms, were denied, sued libraries, & won (2/25)
