I need the general public to understand that a lot of us professional creatives (artists, writers, etc.) are trying to do the best work we can, but are stuck in systems that actively work against quality, and push for churning out more and more content, more and more slurry.
I am absolutely subtweeting. I'm exhausted. I hate hating my work and I hate not being able to do my best work.
I imagine you hate a movie or a show or a game or a book. Chances are, someone who worked on that hates it on a deeper level.

As someone who's been trying to slowly introduce my partner to video games, this video does a fabulous job highlighting how video games have an unspoken language that enthusiasts are kinda expected to just...know from years of playing games?
Particularly stuff like how universal controls have become, and certain visual shorthands like HUD compasses, and understanding your avatar's skillset.
I *really* want my Trekkie partner to play Mass Effect, but they don't quite "get" joysticks, nevermind third person shooters.

I love how low-res graphics force artists and designers to think critically about shapes and colors, and how working with limitations can create strong character designs. So here's a thread about that!
I'm pretty sure everyone and their dog knows this, but Mario's mustache and overalls were added to differentiate Mario's nose from his face and his arms from his body, respectively. I think the hat was because the hair looked weird? Every pixel matters when a sprite is that small
