Je suis un Juif québécois et canadien de première génération, et en observant ma ville natale, Montréal, sombrer dans le chaos, avec la loi et l’ordre apparemment abandonnés pour apaiser des lâches masqués et haineux, je ressens l’urgence de partager mon point de vue.

À ceux qui tentent de comprendre la situation à Montréal et au Québec, voici mes réflexions.

🧵 La communauté juive de Montréal est, sans aucun doute, l’une des plus dynamiques et remarquables au monde. Nous avons tout : un réseau solidaire et uni, une riche diversité d’ethnies juives—ashkénazes, séfarades, mizrahis, éthiopiens, et autres—et un profond attachement à nos traditions et à nos valeurs.

Notre communauté bénéficie d’écoles juives et de camps exceptionnels qui renforcent un lien profond avec notre identité. La plupart des Juifs vivent à proximité les uns des autres, élevant leurs enfants dans un environnement chaleureux, inclusif, et fièrement juif. Nous embrassons majoritairement le sionisme, c’est-à-dire le droit du peuple juif à l’autodétermination dans sa patrie ancestrale. Une souveraineté Juive.

Nous aspirons également à la paix entre Israël et tous ses voisins. Ne vous laissez donc pas tromper par les voix antisionistes isolées que les médias pourraient mettre en avant : elles ne nous représentent pas et ne peuvent pas parler en notre nom.

I am a first generation Canadian and Quebecker Jew and as I watch my hometown of Montreal descend into chaos, with law and order seemingly abandoned to appease masked and hateful cowards, I feel compelled to share my perspective.

To those trying to make sense of the situation in Montreal and Quebec, here are my thoughts.

A thread 🧵 The Montreal Jewish community is, without question, one of the most vibrant and exceptional Jewish communities in the world. We have it all: a close-knit, supportive network, a rich tapestry of Jewish ethnicities—Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Mizrahi, Ethiopian, and others—and an enduring commitment to our traditions and values.

Our community boasts phenomenal Jewish schools and camps, fostering a deep connection to identity. Most Jews live in close proximity, raising their children in a warm, inclusive, and proudly Jewish environment. We overwhelmingly embrace Zionism i.e. the right of the Jewish people for self determination in their ancestral homeland. We also overwhelmingly yearn for peace between Israel and all its neighbors. So please don’t be misled by token anti-Zionist voices that the media may promote - they do not and cannot speak for us.
