In #JulianAssange's extradition hearing Day 1 we learned he's kept in a bulletproof glass box, making it hard to hear & see his own trial.

Day 2 we learn he was handcuffed 11x the night b4, stripped naked twice, changed cells 5 times.

Papers were taken from him. This on top of years of prolonged psychological torture & medical neglect, as detailed in The Lancet & by Nils Melzer.

The efforts to break #JulianAssange and undermine him physically & mentally for trial could not be more blatant.

It is obscene and grotesque.

1/ UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Nils Melzer at yesterday's Prevention of Torture press conference: “What this case is about is that… ten years ago [#JulianAssange] published… prima facie evidence of war crimes… 2/ That’s what investigative journalists do… What this should have triggered is investigations by the state(s) of the misconduct.

Explosive eyewitness account from highly respected Australian investigative journalist Mark Davis - it was #JulianAssange in 2010, not The Guardian or NYT or Der Spiegel, who redacted names to protect identities. Anything else is “a complete lie” consortiumnews.com/2019/08/09/wat… 2/ Mark Davis says, “I was there when they formed ‘the bunker’ at the Guardian [with] Der Spiegel, The Guardian, The New York Times and #JulianAssange. Every moment that #Julian was there I was there.”

@NilsMelzer @K_interarma @_CarrieComer @SomersetBean @atlas_women @UN_SPExperts In the spirit of open discussion b/w people committed to combating abuse, I feel I must add my 2 cents. I’ve worked with survivors of rape & sexual assault, in childhood & adulthood, both male & female, in various capacities since 1994. I too feel strongly about the subject. @NilsMelzer @K_interarma @_CarrieComer @SomersetBean @atlas_women @UN_SPExperts Against that background, I have also written a series on the psychology of the smear campaign against Julian Assange, including the Swedish investigation. In the process, a few things have become clear.
