In using the English language, we are referred to in the constitution and treaties as “Indian” which came from the Spanish word “Indios”; which was derived from the Latin words In (with) Dio (God).
In America, which has always had trouble with telling the correct history,we are
called “Indian” because Christopher Columbus allegedly was searching for a route to the country which is called India today.
However, in that time period, India was referred to as Hindustan.
American was later called “America” because of a well known trader who established
