#Breaking: Bombay High Court says it doesn't want a situation in the country where policemen fail to protect the citizens and especially the law abiding citizens of India. Police cannot give any type of VIP treatment to accused persons.

The High Court expressed displeasure over Maharashtra Police for producing Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) corporator Ramesh Mhatre through VC after his initial arrest in connection with a FIR lodged against him for assaulting 3 doctors in a Thane hospital.

#BombayHighCourtImage A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Ravindra Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ankhad said it will order enquiry against the officer who came up with the "innovative" idea of producing Mhatre virtually before the Magistrate for seeking his remand.

ACJ Ghuge: We want the name of this officer, who after arresting the accused came up with this innovative idea of producing him through VC. Either we will call the Commissioner of Police, Thane in court.

Advocate General Milind Sathe however, told the judges that when Mhatre was arrested, his vitals were checked and his BP was 160/100 so he was admitted and thus to ensure that the 24 hours time doesn't end, he was produced virtually.
