@jccwrt I only have a very narrow view since it was a large project with many moving parts. But I can share a few things I remember. @jccwrt The mass data storage for Galileo was a single-string "reel to reel" tape recorder. After the HGA failure, it became a crucial component of the science ops plan. The images and sci data would be stored there, edited, compressed and slowly downlinked by LGA
