Today is the 98th anniversary of my grandfather getting on his single speed Rugby bike, and with his younger brother and a childhood friend heading out from their home in Mattoon, Illinois on a young man’s dream to the west coast.
Their record 62 day adventure to San Francisco set in motion the future of generations to come. The amazing story of their endeavor is my family’s legacy – the spirit of adventure, determination and fortitude, of reaching for dreams and never saying never.
