This kind of propaganda is a red flag because it pretends to care about kids, but represents the viewpoint of highly paid propaganda networks that refuse to acknowledge basic points about "choice". /1 Candy says "if your school is doing a great job, parents will keep their kids there."

In school "choice", schools have the choice, not parents. /2

Biden has proven himself a competent leader. Part of what competent leaders do is surround themselves with competent people.

Trump is not a competent leader. /1 Trump's teams are made up of three types of people.
-Yes men who do what he wants.
-Sinister types who use his own vanity/stupidity to reach their own goals (McConnell comes to mind)
-Decent people who figure out ways to work around him (usually legacy employees) /2

Since I’m the subject of this one, let me bore everyone with another thread.

First, there is no set importance or interpretation of bible verses that is “Christian”. They tend to shift and change based on the person doing the interpretation. /1 I have one that works for me based on my own faith upbringing and experience.

Religions of all stripes have been man’s way to explain the unexplainable and to codify ways to live that seem (at the time, at least) to benefit mankind. /2

Let's take a look at EdChoice and their bid to "empower parents from all walks of life", shall we? /1 Chairman Charles Leis. Part of Trinity's Hall of Fame. Huge fundraiser for the school. /2 whas11.com/article/news/c…

Let's take a look at Daniel Cameron's education plan, shall we? A thread /1 Wow, Andy Beshear's so bad he brought down test scores nationwide.

As to US History scores, I'm sure the party that believes slavery was beneficial for Black people and the Holocaust was a result of Jewish people not willing to fight back will bring those scores right up. /2

There are a ton of good people who I have no doubt spent a lot of time and effort yesterday trying to make things work, get kids home safely, and fix things at JCPS. My support for staff, teachers, bus drivers, and everyone at JCPS is strong. But…… /1 There was plenty of knowledge among staff about first days that have gone off the rails. They go back at least 13 years. People were acutely aware of the PR mess it creates, not to mention the very real fear a parent has when they don’t know where their kid is. /2

I'd like to go on a rant about today (yeah, I know, what's new), but I don't know how to even put it into words. /1 I feel like our legislature is made of people who have felt inadequate their entire life and use their faith and cruelty to establish dominance to fill that void. /2

I think that a lot of people have an uncomfortable feeling when people talk about banning or removing books. The oversized outrage and anger on this issue comes from the right. /1 The problem is that nuance isn’t possible in a world devoid of context, which is what the right has been championing here. /2

Here are my comments to the sponsors of the bill about the sensibleness of the actual bill.

That said, let me weigh in on your comments, @GeriKipp and @dperkinsed.

My question for those outraged is how many of them knew about the books they’re outraged about prior to the last months of 2021?

When my daughter was an infant until she was about 2, she NEVER slept. At one AM she’d start crying and I’d have to grab her out of the crib, feed her, and sit in a chair with her until she fell back asleep. At one AM without streaming, your viewing options were limited. So I watched old reruns of Rockford Files. Oddly, James Garner getting beat up in LA didn’t sooth her.

My concerns about the ”Science of Reading” the reporting, and the politics behind it. A thread. /1 First, let me say I completely agree that we should be doing whatever we can to make sure kids are able to read early and read well. And I understand the thinking that phonics can help provide a good foundation to build upon that then folds in other literacy concerns. /2

Some interesting donations to the Misty Glin campaign for school board:
$1000 from J McCauley Brown, KY GOP Chair
$500 from Jason Nemes' buddy and failed phony petitioner Theresa Camoriano
$500 from Louisville GOP Vice Chair Don Fitzpatrick
secure.kentucky.gov/kref/publicsea… $100 from one of Louisville's worst lawmakers, Kevin Bratcher
$4000 from Charles and Janet Price, whose Price Foundation donates to many far right evangelical causes, including groups that attack LGBTQ and abortion rights like Family Foundation & Focus ont he Family.

After 40 plus years of watching, here’s my official recommendation for future Emmy telecasts.

1) Find a host who is comfortable with jokes and can deliver bad ones comfortably.

2) Eliminate opening bits unless they are absolutely killer. And no more than five minutes. 3) Don’t play off speeches unless someone is clearly rambling. Don’t give them a countdown clock to start.

4) The segment of people who have died needs no singing or featured performer. Show the names clearly, highlight a memorable role or speech, play sad music.
