SIGNIFICANCE OF JINNAH'S REMOVAL OF 'GOD' FROM PAKISTAN'S CONSTITUTION

On 23 July 1947, The Earl of Listowel wrote Mountbatten, "I agree it will be necessary for you and for Jinnah to be sworn and to take the oath of allegiance on 15th August... [as] "I... do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King George, his heirs and successors, according to law. So help me God." 1/8

(Transfer of Power Papers, Volume 12, Page 311) Mountbatten consulted Nehru and Patel and wrote back on 29 July, "Nehru and Patel have now been consulted. They have no objection to the Oaths of Allegiance and Office." He continued, "I shall still have to agree the forms with Jinnah but I hope this will not present difficulty." 2/8

Some Hindustani Muslims are more concerned about turning Pakistan into a theocracy than Paks themselves. I think it's becz of a weird idea of Pakistan that they were fed in response to the question: "If Pak was a Muslim state for Indians then why are we stuck in Hindustan?" 1/n They naturally conclude that they are stuck in Hindustan becz they sacrificed for their fellow Muslims to create an ideal Islamic theocracy even if it came at the cost of them remaining under caste Hindu majority in Hindustan. Some questions regarding early provincial elections (Thread):

1. Will Punjab elections be held based on old census and then General elections on new census later on? Will it solve the issue or create more anarchy, especially on ethnic lines?... 2. If there's govt in a province with 60% population and seats in NA, will it affect general elections or not as on grp will have edge?

3. If there are no caretaker setups in all units & capital (as demanded in const), will elections be free and fair and as per constitution?...

Jinnah created plan 4 economic uplift. Created Departments 2 modernise public life. Brought investment. Funded female schools. Morndernised agriculture. Created team for post war reconstruction. Pushed for Muslim Commercial Bank, Orient Airways, mills etc. What did Bacha Khan do? Sources:

FACT CHECK THREAD

I've read the book "Jinnah: his successes, failures and role in history by Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed" and seen lectures of Dr Pervez Hoodbhoy on history. After fact checking both, I've pinpointed reasons why their statements should be taken with a grain of salt. a)- Zaid Hamid wrote more books than Hoodbhoy. Point?

b)- Jinnah wrote 7 pages long article on constitution. Later this and others were included in a book “India’s problem of her future constitution”, which was published in 1940s. Plus 40 years of practical legislation record.
