International Women's Day, apparently. Tell them one day isn't enough.

Tell them we take all the days.

Thread. Femicide involves the killing of women and girls because they are female. This still happens at an alarming rate all over the world. I can't find statistics for later than 2017 (let me know if you can) but in 2017, 87,000 women and girls lost their lives because they were female.

Confused about radical feminism? Do you want to know what rad fems believe and fight for? Read on! Rad fems know that gender is a social construct and a hierarchy that oppresses women. We want to abolish gender.

Throughout history (ha!), women's contributions have mostly gone unacknowledged or have been passed off as the contributions of men. An entire sex has been written out of the history of the world because men were doing the writing.

Women's History *Month*? Thread. Women have always been 50 % of the population, but we feature in only around 0.5% of recorded history. Archaeological discoveries show that most of the figurines dug up from prehistoric times - between around 40,000 BC until around 5,000 BC - are mostly (90 %) of women.

In another example of women being bullied, 100 academics working at @UniMelb demanded that the university take 'swift and decisive action' over a website created by their colleague Holly Lawford-Smith that was a response to Australian legislation that replaces sex with gender. This cannot be allowed to continue; all over the world women who are asking tough questions and protesting against these inane changes that affect and disadvantage women are being silenced in the name of acceptance.

"I'm going to ask you to remember the prostituted, the homeless, the battered, the raped, the tortured, the murdered, the raped-then-murdered, the murdered-then-raped; and I am going to ask you to remember the photographed, the ones that any or all of the above happened to and it was photographed and now the photographs are for sale in our free countries.

Nobody is saying that trans-identified humans should not have human rights; what women are objecting to is the fact that trans activism is seeking to eliminate the following sex-based rights and protections that women have.

A thread. Here is a list of the Human Rights of Women that trans activism is eliminating; it was written by Gallus Mag, who had her blog deleted by Wordpress after she published this.

Do you remember when trans activists wanted to shut down The Vancouver Rape Relief Centre by complaining to the council about their single sex policy and causing them loss of council funding?

Thread. This is happening to Feminist Legal Clinic in Sydney which is now under attack from the Sydney City Council.

My husband and I were talking about women's issues and the fact that we are still struggling to be heard and to be taken seriously and to be valued and respected in many societies in many countries around the world. And he said to me, "Why do you think that is?"

Thread. And I said it's because historically - over the entire history of our sex - men have been in charge, and they have made all the rules.

I find the concept of 'leaked nudes' particularly distressing and disgusting.

Short thread. A 'leaked nude' is a non-consensual form of sexual violation, and anybody who searches for/looks at/shares is a part of the problem, and just as guilty.

I was just having a very interesting phone conversation with a friend and fellow radfem. We were talking about how JKR's essay gave us a brief moment of hope that surely the tides would turn and people would clearly see how misogynistic and homophobic the trans movement is. Instead, of course, from HP actors turning on her to calls for the boycott of her books to HP fans pretending she had nothing to do with her own creation to the multiple articles in various publications and everything else, it is painfully clear just how much women are hated.

A friend of a friend apparently boasted about how she doesn't have female friends, and that it is completely normal for her. It's left me feeling incredibly sad.

Thread. As women, other women are the most amazing friends we can have. Women understand women in a way that men simply cannot.

After reading yet another article by a woke bro dismissing both JK Rowling and the radical feminist movement as 'white supremacists', my anger is bubbling up within me. I'll link to it below, but here are my thoughts first.

Thread. The article states that Rowling chose this moment - when the BLM movement is erupting & demanding social change in the United States - to 'make transphobic statements' citing her concern for women's rights, the fact that sex is real, and that feminism must always centre women.

I admire Shulie Firestone deeply and salute her work, and the work of so many radical feminists who came before us. We must never forget that we stand on their shoulders.

Thread. One of the most important things we can learn from Shulie's life and writings and everything that she so firmly espoused and fought for and believed in, is the importance of going on the offensive.

Whilst men argue about what women are, let's talk about women's voices.

Thread. Let's talk about the voices of the women who were historically subjugated and silenced for hundreds of years, the women who had to fulfill the roles allotted to them by the patriarchal society in which they lived, and do so in silence.

I hate the word 'CIS' because it was thrust upon me without my permission; I was told I'm CIS because I identify as the sex I was born as. Even though a small minority identify as trans, it was somehow deemed important to label the majority a term that is used in chemistry. Men and women don't need labelling; we don't need this forced upon us to identify us. We know who we are.

I've just been having a chat with friends who play an online fantasy game similar to World of Warcraft. In the game, a seventeen year old (just had a birthday last week) was harassed sexually by a much older male player, causing her to turn to my friends in panic. My friends helped her by advising her on what to do, how to protect herself, and also talked to the male player in question. But two things struck me from what they said.

I just read an article that almost perfectly describes my own journey (except I'm a medieval historian, not a psychologist) from being a blind trans ally to a thinking, questioning critic of the trans movement, and an ally to women. I'll quote a bit from it and then link to it. "Like so many other women before me, I reached my “peak.” And finally, even though it may have taken a long time, I tipped, falling away from the beliefs ascribed by gender identity ideology, and onto firmer ground."

I'm usually quite a rock on here, but some of the things said recently make me want to cry. They aren't just questioning the fact that we are women, they are questioning our humanity. Remember the little Black girl who was exhibited in Brussels? I think about her a lot.

Thread. Human zoos became quite popular around the world in the late 1800s. 'Exotic' human beings - usually Black or Brown - were exhibited to throngs of white people like animals in a zoo. They attracted huge audiences.

"I have a final solution for the TERF problem. Apparently there was a European leader in the 1930s and 1940s who set up this elaborate system of ovens and showers with odorless gas. We can use this same system to deal with TERFS."

So you're Nazis, then? Hey, you said it, not me. Image The source for this (from a reverse image search) is a Reddit forum. I tried accessing it but it's gone private.

The upsurge in attacks on women - both online and in person - is not something new. It's always been there. It's just more to the forefront now; it's no longer the undercurrent it used to be. Attacking women has become the new normal. The rise of the woke has made it okay to say out loud what was only whispered before. We know this. As women we are witnessing this first hand.

I'd like to recommend this book.

amazon.co.uk/New-Womans-Sur… In the seventies, a group of women came together to create this bible of sorts for other women; a way to show the world what women were creating and doing. They wanted to create a world that centred women in a world that only centred men.
