@COsweda, question for you? Was thinking about the Beirut blast, and how straight up it was. Could all those dozens of cranes around the site have been there to bring weight to the site, you know, create a heavy 'soil compaction' ring around it in order to funnel the blast up? I did some digging, and found photos of the port pre-explosion, and there were cranes, but, in none of them did I ever see literally DOZENS of them around. Each weighs, what, 30-45 tonnes? I even saw them in videos, on the other side. The weight would have kept debris out.
