Remember for a minute when the media, NYT, were talking about Trump’s cognitive decline?

What happened?

Now they’re letting him call other people “mentally disabled”? And yet another racist attack—“born that way”

The previous pope is rolling over in his Vatican crypt. It's interesting that Francis gave interview to the AP, calling for the Catholic church to fight the criminalization of homosexuality & demanding bishops change their stances, the day after the extremist Pope Benedict's book was published posthumously.

This story is rock solid. Matt Schlapp accused of groping a male staffer on Herschel Walker's campaign -- and the campaign offered "nothing but support" for the staffer at the time.

Schlapp has allowed the most horrific anti-LGBTQ bile at CPAC. Another GOP hypocrite. I covered CPAC for years, annually (until the pandemic). I watched Schlapp, interviewed/argued with him, as he allowed CPAC to be a platform for homophobic hate.

All the while, was he making unwanted advances on men?

The tiny band of gay MAGA were ecstatic that Santos would be a GOP House member pushing "groomer" smears & "don't say gay" bill...

Now they're all in hiding.

@RichardGrenell @robsmithonline @gregorytangelo @Chadwick_Moore @CharlesTMoran Santos would help do their dirty work, pushing the GOP's hate agenda against LGBTQ, psychotically believing they’ll be accepted by MAGA extremists immersed in QAnon conspiracies if they just throw some of their own under the bus.

Santos married a woman in 2012, per marriage records, divorced in 2019. But this:

"Mr. Vilarva met Mr. Santos in 2014, when he was 18 & Mr. Santos was 26. Mr. Vilarva found him charming and sweet. They dated for a few months before Mr. Santos suggested they move in together." nytimes.com/2023/01/01/nyr…

Mr. Vilarva said..he did find himself footing many of the bills.

“'He used to say he would get money from Citigroup, he was an investor,' Mr. Vilarva recalled. 'One day it’s one thing, one day it’s another thing. He never ever actually went to work.'"

Trump went from never releasing his tax returns to becoming the first announced candidate for 2024 to have them released -- and it's killing him. He gave little money to charity -- and nothing at all in 2020, as Covid swept the globe.

He did not forgo his $400K salary as he bragged he would.

Had bank accounts in...China!

Folks, Santos has said his mother was in one of the towers on 9/11 and died "a few years" later, implying some illness or injury (sketchy details). 2016 isn't "a few years," but still the tweets aren't necessarily a lie.

Many who were at Ground Zero developed illnesses... ...many years later. Some died of those illnesses, some are still alive. 9/11 victims compensation fund gives aide to anyone who developed one of 4 illnesses who was at ground zero, no matter how many years later.

This is one that should be checked out first.

George Santos thinks he just settled everything.

He just opened up a whole world of hurt for him and the GOP as they're trying to fumble out of the gate, without even a speaker yet. Santos claims to have "loaned" his campaign $600,000, which was reported in his FEC filing earlier in the year. But the 600K doesn't show up in his 2022 personal financial disclosure -- which was filed late -- which says he made no income over the past year.

What we might see re: Maggie Haberman is some reporter, maybe media reporter, once again do perfunctory story on how she's being attacked by "the left."

They'll use worst examples, most extreme and unfair attacks on Twitter, rather than reasoned critiques. I don't give a damn who Haberman's mother worked for, and I don't believe she's believes in Trump' politics or is right-winger or whatever.

I want them to speak to those of us who've given clear examples of how her access journalism works. How she will do a critical piece...

Maggie Haberman has trended every day since the "she's friendly to us" line in the 1/6 report.

Reporters who defend her will it slough it off, offer rationalizations, claim the Trumper's *think* she's friendly while she's playing 3-D chess. But their blind spot is more evident. Haberman is protected by colleagues, some of whom fear her, b/c even if they don't agree w/the criticisms there's a story here:

She's in Hutchinson's testimony as "friendly to us." She blocked Rachel Vindman tonight. Adam Davidson of New Yorker tweeted she tried get him fired.
