We have filed a habeas corpus application seeking the release of Bakari Mwanyota Mbwana from police custody. Police have detained Mbwana without trial, over 90 days after his nighttime abduction in Likoni on February 23. More: muhuri.org/muhuri-sues-ig…
We fear @PoliceKE may extrajudicially execute or forcefully disappear Mbwana if he is not released or presented before any court in Kenya. And that is why we have sued Inspector-General of police @IG_NPS and Attorney-General Paul Kihara for illegal detention abduction.

Brutal police in Nairobi violently disrupted several peaceful marches urging constitutionalism & respect for human rights. The march coincided with the 30th anniversary of Saba Saba movement, which was critical in repealing Section 2A of the Constitution, allowing multipartyism.
Rights defenders from social justice centres in Nairobi organized the march to pile pressure on the government to act on human rights abuses -- many committed by rogue police – and provide for fundamental freedoms. They were to petition the President to act. @StateHouseKenya
