As a final year resident my program director sat us down & threatened to put “not a team player” our files if we didn’t agree to be on call every third night for a year *without* compensation.
I was 35 weeks pregnant and absolutely distraught at the thought of the colleagues who had supported me the last 3 years being punished for my maternity leave and our friends firing.

On the topic of healthcare as a human right: How do you feel about doctors creating simple, but high cost, “courses” marketed to patients (ie birth, fertility, fitness, etc):
I have mixed feelings. Personally, while I think experts deserve compensation for their time & knowledge, I feel like charging vulnerable individuals several hundred dollars for something you create in a week which becomes a revenue wheel for years is … ethically uncomfortable…

Cannot wrap my mind around the number of healthcare professionals who think doctors have there right to refuse care to a patient because that patient is gay/woman/Muslim/Nazi/etc.
Y’all need to leave medicine if you think overt discrimination is ok in healthcare. 😳
I have no interest in associating with nazis, but I cannot refuse care because someone is shitty and has a swastika on their arm.
Now, if that person puts myself or my staff in danger bc of their beliefs that’s different.

Y’all need to realize that this Jessa Duggar response will be a pedestal to further prolife propaganda. That article was not an accident.
The prolife goal is to make siding with choice unpalatable by disingenuously portraying as unreasonable…& it’s working.
Make no mistake. Tomorrow every “prolife” propaganda page, including the one on my cover photo who hates me for very effectively changing minds on this issue, will be using these threads as “proof” that you cannot align w choice unless you are an unreasonable & hateful monster.

No. I hate this. We can advocate for abortion access without targeting people sharing their story of undesired pregnancy loss.
As an ObGyn I certainly acknowledge that the medical term “abortion” technically includes miscarriage.
But socially we absolutely do NOT these interchangeably.

This rhetoric is a specifically designed political lobbying tactic.
Family Research Council is an extreme right-wing activist group that avoids paying taxes by being classed as a “church.”

Extreme right-wing disinformation doctors created a marketing company and are actively recruiting social media influencers to spread their dangerous lies...🧵
Today I received this "influencer" recruitment email. Let's dissect it...

In a video from 3 years ago I mentioned that in early pregnancy while working 5 nights/for a month as a resident I had to take a break from being “Pinterest mom” w my then 2yo twins for a few weeks bc early pregnancy was a bit tough on me physically. Look at this comment. 😵💫
Sincerest apologies to my then 3yo twins for the 12wks of their brother’s gestation when I was a resident & made them read books in my call room, wear hobby lobby bday shirts, & take store bought valentines to preschool. I’m sure this still haunts you, look how unhappy you were.

Happy September 1, in Texas it is now officially more legal to take your gun in Starbucks than it is to be a gynecologist.
Because, it is clearly more rational to need a gun on your hip at the carnival than it is to make your own health decisions.

Covid vaccinations do NOT damage placentas or cause infertility.
Mike Yeadon is master of viral misinformation who does not understand pregnancy or embryology, here’s why his viral claims are wrong. 🧵
Background: Last year Yeadon incited mass panic when he claimed Covid vaccines would cause sterility due to antibodies damaging Syncitin-1, a placental protein. I reviewed why this theory lacked biologic plausibility: The placenta isn’t even functioning until well into pregnancy.

COVID-19 vaccination does not cause infertility. 🧵
Aside from a complete lack of biologic plausibility for the blatant lie that induced this panic, we are now getting more & more confirmatory data. 👇
