Just heard @spectator are planning to run a story on me tomorrow about how I have benefitted commercially in the last 18 months…To clarify, I don’t need to partner with brands. I partner because I want to progress the work I do off the pitch and…(1) most of any fee I would receive contributes to that. Last summer, 1.3M children had access to food support, through my relationship with Burberry children have a safe place to be after school where they will be fed, following the November investment…(2)

Wanted to share key points from a conversation with @Chartwells_UK this morning.
There is a meeting scheduled between Chartwells and @educationgovuk today.

Information provided –

FSM Hampers are currently distributed to provide 10 lunch meals per child across 2 weeks.

This concerns me firstly as I relied on breakfast club, FSM and after-school clubs. Is 1 meal a day from Mon-Fri sufficient for children most vulnerable?

Paying close attention to the Commons today and to those who are willing to turn a blind eye to the needs of our most vulnerable children, 2.2M of them who currently qualify for Free School Meals. 42% newly registered. Not to mention the 1.5M children who currently don’t qualify. Since March 32% of families have suffered a drop in income...

13.2% rise in unemployment expected...

We aren’t in the same position we were in in the Summer, it’s much worse. The number of children with little to no access to food has risen significantly.

#endchildfoodpoverty is not about children going hungry during the school holidays, this is about children going hungry full stop. Let’s not loose sight of the bigger picture here. There are at least 1.5million children we are not reaching with the free school meal scheme...

1.5million children have little to no access to food today...

As you pour your cereal, grab your pastry and your coffee to go this morning, think about that. 1.5million without any help at all.

Imagine going to bed at night with a full stomach, preparing for a good sleep, knowing there are 1.1M helpless children who are probably wide awake listening to their stomachs grumbling or their parents sobbing, whose life could be significantly improved by one decision...(1) If a child needs access to food at school, OF COURSE they need access to it at home! Why can't we provide assurance that our children will be protected during school holidays? Why is this even a question?? How do we justify not helping them?? People are losing their jobs...(2)

1. When you wake up this morning and run your shower, take a second to think about parents who have had their water turned off during lockdown
#maketheuturn 2. When you turn on your kettle to make a cup of tea or coffee think of those parents who have had to default on electricity bill payments just to make ends meet having lost their jobs during the pandemic

Wouldn’t normally share these types of things but this certificate is not just for me, it belongs to you all. Each and every one of you that has contributed the few £s you can, you’ve all made a huge difference (1) Image 2.8million children a week are receiving meals they otherwise wouldn’t have during this lockdown because of YOUR help. I couldn’t have done any of this without the help of you all and @Fareshare (2)

Guys, according to a report by the Food Foundation, 200,000 children in Britain have missed meals during lockdown because families ‘could not access food’. 500,000 more who rely on free school meals are receiving no substitute at all... how?? (1) I launched my campaign with @FareShareUK 8 weeks ago. Today, we are supplying 2.8million meals a week for vulnerable people across the UK. Meals they wouldn’t otherwise have. And you all deserve a HUGE thank you! (2)

Guys, 6 weeks ago I launched my partnership with @fareshareuk and I’m so proud of the progress we’ve made together. Today we are supplying over 2million meals a week to vulnerable people across the UK, meals they wouldn’t otherwise have (1) My mum worked all day every day when I was growing up to make sure I had at least one meal on the table every night. I needed breakfast club and free school meals otherwise I didn’t eat until 8/9pm.

Not every child is fortunate enough to get that evening meal... (2)

Guys, across the UK there are over 32,000 schools. Tomorrow all of these will close. Many of the children attending these schools rely on free meals, so I’ve spent the last few days talking to organisations to understand how this deficit is going to be filled. (1) Image I wanted to understand the scale of the problem and how we can reach vulnerable children. It’s not just schools. It’s community centres, breakfast clubs, etc that provide the only meal many kids get each day. No child should have to worry where their next meal is coming from. (2)
