OK, I'm going to (again) share one of the most helpful writing tips I've ever received & the one tip that probably helped me become a better writer more than anything else:
FINISH YOUR STORY.
(Disclaimer: there are cases when it's not possible to finish a wip. I have started stories and not finished them several times. It's hard to pin down when that is the best option, but it is definitely a thing. Still, the "finish your story" tip has been crucial for me.)

One of the things I love about Captain Marvel is how joyful Carol is when she uses her powers. Like, she radiates this intense sense of WOW WTF LET'S GO! when she understands what she is capable of.
She likes to fight! She likes to fly! She likes to punch things! But she wants to do it for the right reasons. The scene when she realizes the Kree have been controlling her and limiting her powers rather than giving them to her is such an awesome moment.
