*Thread on Spain's election, climate & the far-right*
As 🇪🇸 faces a scorching heatwave, it's striking how climate policy is not a key theme of the campaign. This is even the more so when there are grounds to believe Vox may influence the mainstream right on the issue. (1/6)
Vox not only downplays climate change but uses 'climate religion' as (yet another) tool to decry 'globalist elites'. And it does so w/ clear conspiratorial undertones: green policies are an elite tool to impoverish ppl, attack the countryside & 'create a new order' (sigh) (2/6)

The combination of speakers (via video). On one hand, the usual interlocutors from HU and PL (Orbán & PiS). On the other, many Latin American conservatives (e.g. ex-presidents of Colombia, Peru, Bolivia, Bolsonaro's son, the rising ‘stars’ J.A. Kast (CL) and Millei (AR), etc.)(2)
