Unvaccinated South Africans have a 5 times higher risk of
COVID-19 infection and 20 times higher risk of dying from
COVID complications than people who are fully vaccinated with the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccination. People who had received 2 shots of the Pfizer vaccine had a 92% lower risk of hospitalisation and 94% lower risk of death from COVID than those who had not been vaccinated. This was up to 3 months after the two shots.
