I had to look up some Japanese articles about this, but today I learned that Sunrise had stuck in some "playful" subliminal messaging into City Hunter 3, episode 11 (1989). One single frame featured a photo of Shoko Asahara, former leader of the deadly cult Aum Shinrikyo.
So, the cult would later go on to commit those horrible subway gas attacks in 1995, but in 1989 the story is that Asahara was just some weird, goofy dude known for looking like he could fly and stuff. And the rumor is Sunrise received this cult flyer in their mailbox one day...
