Teslas thermal management system - an engineering marvel - A deep dive
Part 1 - The basics
🧵

Heat-Pumps (HP) themselves are an ingenious development because they can generate approx. 4 kWh of thermal energy from 1 kWh of electrical energy by extracting the necessary heat from the outside air.
If u want to learn more about the HP in general, check out the following thread, if the system is clear keep on reading ;)
Teslas thermal management system - an engineering marvel - A deep dive
Part 2 - The different heating and cooling scenarios
🧵
2 - Function
As described in Part 1, there are 12 different heating and 3 different cooling scenarios that are described below.
The scenarios differ in that there are various requirements either due to the outside temperature conditions, or due to the necessary heat energy to be dissipated by the battery and drive unit.
To make it easier to follow the individual steps, it would be good to open a second window with the same thread to follow the videos in parallel.

Heatpumps - the way to electrify our building heating systems 🔥🔜⚡️ which is key for the energy transition.
Check out this 🧵 about the awesomeness of this system!1) The Awesomeness:
The heat pump process is so unique because it can take the temperature of the environment, e.g. air, and use a small amount of electrical energy to bring this temperature level to a higher level that is suitable for room heating.

Want to find out how the Vegas Loop [VL] stacks up against the underground [U]?
Here is a thread 🧵(1/19)
[2/19] There's been some discussion here on Twitter about how useful the VL really is. Here in Vienna we are used to taking the U in the city. Thus, tunnels in which cars drive sound stupid at first. But is it really?
