Independence Mayor Eileen Weir will not seek reelection, according to sources kmbc.com/article/indepe… Last Tuesday, Weir came in second place to current Missouri State Rep. Rory Rowland in a citywide primary.

Meanwhile, City Councilman Mike Steinmeyer on Tuesday told KMBC he had plans to run as a write-in candidate for mayor.

@kmbc #YustTrial I missed it, but after talking with @kmbc photographer Mark Midgorden who was in the courtroom, he said the defense tried to get the case thrown out this morning saying the prosecution didn't meet its burden of proof.

The judge denied it.

The case moved on.
