Delphi Murders Trial Day 14 Highlights So Far:
During the half-day session, videos taken on a camcorder of Richard Allen at the Westville Correctional Facility were played for the jury. The screen was turned away from the public "out of respect" for Mr. Allen, his attorneys said
-Some of the videos are of Mr. Allen fully naked
-The prosecution again objected to having the videos shown but Judge Gull overruled them
-The defense say the videos show his deterioration in prison
-Since we can't see the video, we watched the jurors reactions

Delphi Murders Trial Day 13 Afternoon Highlights:
-After the video debacle in the morning, the defense called several witnesses when we got back from lunch
-First up was Brad Heath who is a retired exterminator
-He was doing a job at a building near the trails on Feb. 13, 2017
-The building is near the old CPS building where the prosecution says Richard Allen parked his car that day
-He arrived around to the building for the job at 1:46 PM and left around 2:06 pm
-He described seeing a dark blue, older car parked near the trails that day

Delphi Murders Day 13 Lunch Update:

-First on the stand was Hammond Police Officer Christopher Gootee
-He interviewed Brad Weber about 6 days after the murders with an FBI agent
-When defense attorney Jennifer Auger asked him if Weber went straight home after work, Gootee said he didn't know

Delphi Murders Day 12 Afternoon Highlights
-The prosecution rested its case a little before 4 this afternoon
-Before that happened there was an issue with a video the prosecution wanted to show that took more than an hour to resolve
-Prosecution wanted to play a video of Allen in the Cass County Jail where he was banging on the door and telling guards he was going to kill them
-Defense says the video wasn't part of discovery and they needed time to review it

Delphi Murders Trial Day 12 Lunch Update:
-Started this morning by playing phone calls Richard Allen made while in prison to his family
-Master Trooper Brian Harshman testified that he listened to more than 700 of Richard Allen’s calls

-In a call on November 14, 2020 with his wife, Allen said to his wife that if it ever became too much for her than he’ll call the detectives and tell them whatever they want to know
-Allen’s wife was in the courtroom and began crying and put her head down

Delphi Murders Trial Day 11 Afternoon Highlights:
We picked back up with Defense Attorney Brad Rozzi's cross examination of Dr. Monica Wala who was the psychologist at Westville Correctional Facility where Allen was held in solitary confinement for more than a year
-Rozzi asked Dr. Wala about the clothing Allen was forced to wear while on suicide watch which was similar to a Kimono and apparently referred to as a "flintstone gown"
-Dr. Wala testified that the area where she and Allen had their sessions was not a therapeutic setting

-Only witness to take the stand so far is Dr. Monica Wala who was the psychologist at the Westville Correctional Facility
-Dr. Wala testified about her sessions and interactions with Mr. Allen
-Those included confessions he made to her about killing Abby and Libby
-At one point in early April he said he took their lives to preserve his own
-Allen also apparently admitted to have a sex addiction and was an alcoholic

Delphi Murders Trial Day 10 Afternoon Wrap Up:
It was the longest day we've had since this trial began. In the afternoon, we heard the confessions Richard Allen made to prison guards at the Westville Correctional Facility where he was held for more than a year.
-We heard first from John Galipeau who was the former warden at Westville
-He went through what Allen's was life was like there
-Allen was on suicide watch for most of his time there
-He would have "suicide companions" watching him and monitoring what he did and said

-So far videos of both police interrogations have been played for the jury
-The first one was done by the prosecutors office investigator Steve Mullin and Sheriff Tony Liggett
-The second is with Lt. Jerry Holeman from state police
-First interrogation was done after Richard Allen’s tip to police was found
-They begin by asking him questions about what he did that day and where he parked at the trails
-They ask him about who he saw on the trails

-ISP Lt. Jerry Holeman took the stand again
-He is lead investigator for ISP on the case
-Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland asked him about the interrogation he did with Richard Allen on October 26, 2022
-This would be Allen's 2nd interview with police and was done after the warrant was served at his home
-Allen and his wife came to the Lafayette Post in order to get his car back after it had been seized
-Holeman said Allen was free to leave at any time

Delphi Murders Trial Day 7 Highlights
-VERY long day of testimony with only one witness
-Melissa Oberg who was an Indiana State Police firearms examiner took the stand
-Her testimony is central to this case
-She determined that the unspent bullet found at the crime scene between Abby and Libby's bodies came from Richard Allen's gun
-So far that is the only thing that places Allen at the crime scene

Delphi Murders Trial Day 6 Recap:
I'll start where I left off on my morning recap and that was with Steven Mullin back on the stand. He's the investigator for the prosecutor's office.
-Once tip from Richard Allen resurfaced in Sept. 2022, Mullin got a call from Tony Liggett
-They began looking in to Allen
-They found out what cars he drives which included a 2016 Black Ford Focus
-He went to Hoosier Harvest store to see if cameras there captured the vehicle as it had several other cars
-Vehicle matching that description seen at 1:27 PM

Delphi Murders Trial Day 5 Highlights
-First up to stand was Sarah Carbaugh
-She saw a guy walking down the road near the trails the day the girls went missing
-She recognized the BG picture on the news as the man she saw that day
-She described him as "muddy" and "bloody"
-Carbaugh became combative during cross examination
-Defense pointed to transcripts of her first two interview with police, neither had the word "bloody" in them
-She insisted that she said "bloody" but said the video of her interview was "missing"
-Defense pounced on that

-BIG moment when Betsy Blair, who was walking the trails on Feb. 13, 2017, testified
-She described "bridge guy" as "boyish" with "brown, poofy hair"
-Her description was basis for this police sketch
-Blair testified that when she saw this "bridge guy" picture on the news she "immediately" knew it was the man she saw on the bridge
-When asked why her description clashed with photo
-She said that she made that statement when she "was comparing two sketches"

#UDPATE: Day 2 of Delphi Murders Trial just wrapped up. Jurors heard from two citizens. One who found Abby and Libby's clothing in the river and the man who found their bodies.
Man who found the bodies became emotional on the stand saying "I thought they were mannequins"
The man who found the clothing said there appeared to be footprints and disturbed rocks leading down from the bridge to the south side of the creek. Prosecutors have said girls were forced to cross the creek to the north side and were killed. Man said water was deep.

#NEW: Indiana State Police have released body-camera video from one of its troopers that pulled over Bryan Kohberger and his father on I-70 just outside of Indianapolis. ISP says at the time there was no information available for a suspect in the Idaho murders
The traffic stop happened on December 15 just before 11 a.m. when ISP says the trooper pulled Kohberger over for following too closely. This was the 2nd time he was pulled over. Shortly before, a Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy also pulled him over for following too closely
