Years ago we were living in a FOB deep in an Afghan valley. It would be the FOB's first winter since the previous tour built the place.

On December 4th we had ankle deep snow. Any place I'd lived that had that much snow so early got way more throughout the winter. (1/10) So I sent a patrol into the nearest village and told them to find a few elders and ask them how much snow they usually got during Winter.

They came back and told me it was somewhere between knee and thigh deep. (2/10)

Been discussing the Canada-China thing a lot irl. Some thoughts

- Canada remains a strong ally to the US
- There are no Chinese troops invading the US at all, and certainly not from Canada.
- If you're worried about allies backstabbing the US then listen up: - If you had no problems with Trump slamming allies while cozying up to dictators
- If you gladly accepted Trump's demands about countries paying their NATO dues without educating yourself
- If you think killing off an alliance like NATO is a good idea rather than improving it
