Yesterday, I was invited by NOAA to be an observer on a Hurricane Hunters mission into Hurricane Milton. During the 8 hour flight, we penetrated the eye 3 times. It was an extremely intense & educational experience.
This powerful storm deserves serious attention from everyone.
The scientists and meteorologists collect data and research throughout the mission. This is analyzed by the scientists on board and subsequently sent to the National Hurricane Center, aiding in the creation of predictions and storm tracks that play a vital role in saving lives.

The appropriations bill that we just voted on has a lot of good in it. Some might be wondering why I voted NO. It’s quite simple..
Tucked away in this bill is the greatest rollback of the background check system since it was created.
This rollback would allow veterans that have been deemed by the Veterans Administration to be mentally incompetent to buy guns.
These are folks that the VA no longer trusts to manager their own benefits. Veterans who are also unfortunately, at a high risk of suicide.

Antisemitism is a serious and real problem across the country. Yesterday the House voted on a resolution that included important sentiments condemning antisemitism on campuses, but Republicans added falsehoods & inaccuracies that push unhelpful misinformation.
It very much deviated from the bipartisan Rosen-Blackburn resolution condemning campus antisemitism which passed the Senate unanimously last week. I am supporting the bipartisan Kustoff-Wasserman Schultz resolution which contains that exact same language.

An area that the Japanese have really led on is public transportation. We got to tour the Bullet Train (Shinkansen)! I’m a huge rail stan and the entire operation blew my mind.
You literally have trains traveling extremely far distances dispatching every 5-15 minutes.
The average delay last year for the entire system was 0.9 minutes. Yes, under a minute.

Doesn't matter what color those police officers are. The murder of Tyre Nichols is anti-Black and the result of a system built on white supremacy. 🧵
Diversity in police ranks has not solved the crisis of policing where Black people are the prime targets of brutality and incarceration.

Ten years ago today, 26 students and teachers were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. I found out right before my Jazz band concert that night and couldn’t play right, because I kept looking over my shoulder, scared that the same thing was going to happen to all of us.
When I got home, I started reaching out to the survivors and family members on Facebook asking how I could help and what I could do. Days later I flew up to DC for the memorial, vigil, and to lobby members of Congress to take action to save lives.

It seems clear that Sam Bankman Fried cheated and conned over a million people out of their money. Many of these being working class families that lost their life savings. They deserve justice and Sam Bankman Fried should be held accountable.
Whether he meant harm or not, in the end it was just a scam and it’s absolutely heartbreaking to read the stories of folks who lost everything. Those stories should be uplifted in this moment.

Just applied to an apartment in DC where I told the guy that my credit was really bad. He said I’d be fine. Got denied, lost the apartment, and the application fee.
This ain’t meant for people who don’t already have money.
For those asking, I have bad credit cause I ran up a lot of debt running for Congress for a year and a half. Didn’t make enough money from Uber itself to pay for my living.
