Exclusion from mainstream education has disastrous consequences for the children who experience it.
Evidence shows that young people with a history of either suspension or exclusion from school are more likely to be affected by violence. 1/5
For example, nearly 90% of young people in detention had been excluded from mainstream education prior to ending up there.
Ofsted has also found that children who had previously been excluded from school were twice as likely to carry a knife. 2/5
