Consider a woman who is told that her fetus has not developed a diaphragm. She chooses to spare her newborn the inevitable suffocation within minutes of birth by aborting as early as possible. Is she any less heroic than the mother who signs the paperwork for her 17yo to sign up for military service during wartime even though she has conflicted views about the ‘mission’?
