I went to Doha for five days. Here is my experience: stadiums great, fear about lack of women's facilities dispelled. They had added more women's toilets. Transport to the ground on Metro and bus, brilliantly organised. ... Lack of food choice (and availability) and drink in the stadium compounded by confiscating water and any food at security. Poor. A hot country confiscating water and forcing you to buy more in plastic bottles. Also not very eco-friendly. Nor is air-conditioning outside space.

Public service announcement. Having just travelled to Portugal & returned, here is my travel advice which is clearer than the Govt. 1. Get a PCR test with certificate in order to board in UK. Must be on Govt approved list. (Range seems to be £80-150). Print this off onto paper for check-in. Handing over phones is a faff. 2. Fill in a passenger locator form to go (noone told me this but can be done on the plane). 3. To return you only need an antigen test. €35+. 48 hours before. I got results within two hours. Print this too.
