@Joe__Bassey Subjectively analyzing the #WarOnAmhara its root cause can be traced back to the colonial era when the colonial Italy portrayed Amhara people and Ethiopian church as enemies, spreading various forms of propaganda against them even after its defeat. @Joe__Bassey This became a base for the student movement that criticized Emperor HaileSelassie labeling him & his ethnic groups including Ethiopian church, as feudal. Seizing the opportunity the Derg regime capitalized on the protests overthrowing the emperor and executing his entire cabinet.

@Joe__Bassey If we objectively the politics the root cause can be traced back to the emergence of liberation fronts following the defeat of Fascist Italy in the Second Ethio Italy war. These Liberation Fronts aimed to dismantle the nation & secede their respective Ethnic groups from Ethiopia. @Joe__Bassey However, their movement underwent a shift with the rise of the Derg regime and some even joined EPRP. Those who remained bided their time until Eritrea engaged in conflicts with the Derg, and TPLF initiated an armed insurgency, eventually taking control of the government.

The ongoing multidimensional #WarOnAmhara in Ethiopia is entangled in a campaign that exhibits extreme ruthlessness and discriminatory policies. @AbiyAhmedAli's regime aims to consolidate power and systematically commit the #AmharaGenocide. His regime leaves no stone unturned in ruthlessly suppressing any form of political opposition. Extrajudicial killings, arbitrary arrests & intimidation tactics are employed to silence dissenting voices & maintain absolute control over Amhara region.

In the second half of the 19th century, England, France and Italy were more of a threat to Ethiopia than were Egypt and Ottomans. This was because an Italian company had bought part of Asseb and France was intent on connecting Fashoda in Khartoum to Djibouti. During this time, England, France and Italy began to use the term '#Abyssinia' as a means to divide northern Ethiopia from the rest of the country. This name was never used by the people or rulers of Ethiopia, even if they were ever mistakenly referred to as such.
