The Center for National Security Studies (CNSS) at UVU collaborates with IC3/FBI through educational and training initiatives. The CNSS focuses on national security education, including cybersecurity policy, and partners with NSA, State Dept, Secret Service, DoD, FBI, DHS, CIA.

A few industry partners include Adobe, AgilePQ, FireEye, Fortem Technologies, Northrop Grumman, Space Dynamics Laboratory, and Strider Technologies. UVU was established in 1941 as Central Utah Vocational School (CUVS) with the primary function of providing war production training.

▪️In 1945, Wilson W. Sorensen was the first director of the 13-acre school in Provo City, Utah County. He remained director for 41 years.

▪️Kerry D. Romesburg was appointed president in 1991 and singed an exchange agreement with Soviet Russia. Also with China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Germany.

▪️Romesburg's tenure, from 1991 to 2002, student enrollment skyrocketed. 8,700 students to 23,000 enrolled in 2002.

▪️The Board of Regents changed the name to Utah Valley State College in 1993 and established a five-year consortium agreement was established between UVSC and the Kiev College of Hotel Management in the Ukraine, and UVSC became the first institution in the US to receive accreditation for programs offered in the former Soviet Union in 1994.

▪️In 2009, President Holland was instrumental in UVU's designation as an All-Steinway School, Women's Success Center, and the Center for Global and Intercultural Engagement. He also purchases of land in Payson and 250 acres in nearby Vineyard and funding 12 major buildings and more than 1 million sqft.

▪️In 2016, President Holland commissioned the internationally recognized Roots of Knowledge stained glass windows, a 200-foot-wide panorama of the world’s most important advances in human knowledge and understanding. Holland left the University in 2018 when he was called as a mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
