Hold onto your butts, cus I'm gonna deliberately comb through Justice Jackson's dissent. Thread: First thing to note is that NOBODY joined her dissent. Not even Sotomayor or Kagan. That alone does not bode well.

An Updated Iran Thread:

Inside you'll find (1) links to prior threads, including an Iran 101 explanation, (2) an explanation of why my threads are any use, (3) an update on the past 48 hours, (4) a predictive assessment, and (5) an answer as to why we're involved at all. Image (1a) This was my initial thread, Trump vs Iran 101.

Iran was one of my chief problem sets when I worked in National Security. I was “in the know,” as it were, during Trump 45’s Maximum Pressure Campaign.

I suppose now is the time for a Thread explaining Trump’s tactics and Iran’s most likely responses. The first thing you need to know about Iran is that they have two parallel militaries: the Artesh (regular army); and the Sepah (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), which each have ground forces, air forces, navies, air defense, and special forces.

I did a bit of a deep dive into the only real Supreme Court precedent on the imminent anchor baby issue. The case is called United States v. Wong Kim Arm, and its an extremely long opinion. Here's some highlights. 🧵 Preamble: I got sent down this rabbit hole when a friend (@AlexMasnada02) asked me to look into a recent article by @RandyEBarnett and a rebuttal by @jedshug, linked below.

My thoughts here are first impressions, not in-depth or well organized analysis, but the review of Wong Kim Ark leads me to believe Barnett is more correct than Shuger. The Wong Kim Ark Court did reference Coke and Blackstone extensively and presented persuasive authority to support both the decision in that specific case and to not extend its ruling to non-lawful residents.

The true precedent of Wong Kim Ark is extremely narrow and that brightline factual distinction between a lawful permanent resident in 1873 and an unlawful illegal alien in 2025 is going to be key.

With all this talk of abolishing @usedgov, I thought I should take some time to write about one of my most passionate topics: the utter failure of the public school system and why everyone should homeschool their kids. Buckle up for a fresh 🧵. 1) Prior to the advent of mass public schooling, education of children was primarily done at home, on the job, through life experience, or with a tutor. Early public schools mixed children across all age groups and generally stuck to fairly simple subjects.

The reason worth mentioning this is that it is important for everyone to keep in mind as they consider the following and all the recent events over the past 30 years, that prior to public school, humans were *never* grouped exclusively or even primarily with only peers of their same age.

Public schools segregate children by age, creating artificial environments where peer influence dominates. This structure fosters conformity, discourages independent thought, and exacerbates negative behaviors. Adolescents, in particular, are highly susceptible to peer pressure, leading to risky behaviors, bullying, and a culture of mediocrity. Research by Judith Rich Harris in The Nurture Assumption demonstrates that peers, not parents or teachers, are the primary socializing force in a child’s life. In public schools, this dynamic is amplified, often to the detriment of individual growth and moral development.

There's a trend among lefties right now of claiming that @DOGE is illegal or unconstitutional. Allow me to explain how that is false and how its activities aren't even close to unprecedented. A simple 🧵. 1) DOGE is a temporary service organization under the U.S. Digital Service. Their primary mission is upgrade software, but via Executive Order they've also been tasked with, more or less, auditing the Federal Executive. You can read the EOs here:
