🧵 This is Benjamin Foster.
Tuesday, he died by suicide in a stand off with Oregon police. Foster met a woman on Bumble, went on a “date”, held her captive, beat, tortured & assaulted her for 5 days over Christmas. Her? Hospitalized, still unconscious, in critical condition 1/ Image Police said when they found her it was “an absolutely disgusting scene.” Foster allegedly killed two people before the stand off and before committing suicide. He was on dating sites, trying to find new victims. And, Foster had done this before 2/

🧵 Thank you Mr. President! My daughter earned two undergraduate degrees at a state university, graduating Magna Cum Laude with both. She made the absolute most out of her undergrad experience, leading student orgs against campus assault and domestic violence among students 1/ I put her through undergrad and she helped by serving as an RA to lessen my burden for room and board costs. When it came time to get her master’s in Social Work (required by most states) she was accepted into 9 public and private university programs. 2/

🧵 A month ago, my son and daughter-in-law had my first grandchild. Little dude was wreaking havoc on his mother. She had gestational diabetes and then pre-eclampsia which landed her in the hospital a week before his birth. Both are now doing great! 1/ But, when he had to be delivered via emergency c-section, she was 33 weeks pregnant. Thankfully, he was viable and healthy at 3 lbs, 15 ozs. That c-section was performed to save her and him. When doctors did the surgery, they found the placenta was ripping. 2/

🧵 Was at the grocery store today. Ahead of me in line was an elderly man who was having the checker add one item at a time to a small grocery haul as he counted cash in his hand. When it came to the last 3 items - a cucumber, couple tomatoes, & a few potatoes, he was short. 1/ I grabbed the extra $7 out of my wallet and gave it to the checker. “Why would you do that?” He asked me. “Just to help. You need the food.” I said. “I would have done without.” He replied. “I hope someday someone helps you if you need it,” he added. 2/

THREAD: We know how critical the @USPS is, especially for this election and we know Trump is trying to steal it. Again. But the right-now, can’t-wait issue is medication. A man said yesterday his cancer meds are 12 days overdue! Life-sustaining Insulin delivery is delayed 1/ which, btw, is rendered useless in heat. Cold pack packaging can only stay cold so long. Roughly 34% of Americans get at least some of their prescriptions by mail. 12% are required to use mail-order by their insurance plans. (source: PubMed.gov - unvetted) 2/

For those considering voting for Trump, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do you invest in the stock market?
2. Can you save anything toward your kids’ college?
3. Does your boss come to work in a $150,000 car, while you’d have to sacrifice groceries to fix yours? 1/ 4. Is your community getting needed infrastructure repairs?
5. Has the homeless population in your community decreased?
6. Is your community more tense than ever before?
7. Do you live paycheck-to-paycheck?
8. Are you terrified of losing your job? 2/

THREAD: Snapshots of our broken Healthcare system. Without even approaching universal healthcare or medicare for all, these snapshots from personal life experience bring into stark relief WHY the U.S. Healthcare system is in a trash heap.\1 In December, I was hospitalized for a minor intestinal infection. During my evening, a staff doctor visited and told me she was shocked they hospitalized me. She said typically patients are just sent home with medication, but THIS hospital admitted 'everyone for everything' \ 2
