In todayโs installment of a mineral balancing retest case study, weโre going to be looking at an aspect of the mineral balancing approach which truly sets it apart from all other heavy metal detox approaches.
We will be doing this through the lens of a clients repeated hair tests and their elimination of the heavy metal aluminum.
I can say unequivocally that mineral balancing is better than all other metal โdetoxesโ because we cause heavy metals to be eliminated.
๐ง๐๐๐ฆ is what sets mineral balancing apart from all other metal detox approaches.
Yes, the underlying theory of the mineral system, the interactions of all the elements, how we use nutrients with an understanding of their relationships, and ionic mimicry all also set this approach far apart from others (light years in fact), but without the ability to track and evidence these eliminations, the theory as to why this approach is so great is simply only that โ ๐ ๐ง๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฌ.
Letโs dive into the way in which we track and measure these metal eliminations, so we can move away from citing screenshots of studies ad nauseum โ as if this proves anything, for you specifically โ to showing you exactly how much of a heavy metal you eliminated on your mineral balancing program.
This clientโs (15 year old female) mom came to me in early February 2025, and her chief complaint was a history of developmental delays, though she was never diagnosed fully as on the autism spectrum.
Her mom described this to me as โa sprinkle of autism.โ
We got her first test back in mid-February and there are some significant imbalances that we can see here in the screenshot of her first test:
- Four Lows Pattern (deep endocrine burnout)
- Low Na/K Ratio (low electrical potential across her cells)
- Double Low Ratio Pattern (low Ca/Mg ratio + low Na/K ratio)
- Low Zinc + Overtly elevated Aluminum (poor tissue biosynthesis + autism trend)
Iโm not going to use this thread to dive into the above imbalances and explain what they mean, or even the protocol we used to correct them, but the first test is critical to show you where her aluminum level starts at, in the sequence of two tests Iโm going to post in this thread.

This 67 year old female signed up to work with me in January 2024 with five primary things she wanted to work on:โฃ
โฃ
- Insomnia โฃ
- Osteoporosis โฃ
- Hypothyroidism โฃ
- Constipationโฃ
- Canker Sores โฃ
โฃ
She had other symptoms but they were more incidental and less persistent than these main five.โฃ
She went through many different traditional and alternative healing approaches, most of which did nothing for her.
โฃ
Itโs important to note as well that she was on a laundry list of supplements to try to address these existing issues.โฃ
โฃ
Some of these supplements were helping her, but some of them were very contraindicated for her based on the specific findings of her first hair tissue mineral analysis test.โฃ
โฃ
Specifically, what Iโm talking about is the copper supplement she was taking, listed in pic related.โฃ
โฃ
Iโll discuss why this was a disaster for her in the first htma protocol tweet.โฃ

This post was inspired by my conversation with @JoshRainerGold , when he asked me what folks who eat fish consistently should do to prevent Mercury accumulation from the fish they are eating.โฃ
โฃ
This is NOT a protocol to deal with the mercury already bioaccumulated in your tissues. โฃ
โฃ
It is not strong enough to move the needle along that dimension, but it may work really well to prevent any new mercury youโre exposed to from coming into the system.โฃ

Here is the protocol anytime you consume fish:โฃ

The mom of the infant was referred to me in August of 2023 by another health care professional for central sleep apnea along with low ferritin (8ng/mL) and a bunch of other symptoms including digestive issues.
The doctors recommended the infant take an iron supplement for the low ferritin, but the mother had read about how low ferritin could be related to other things, rather than strictly iron deficiency, and felt uncomfortable giving her infant supplemental iron.
She also wanted to seek alternative approaches to help with her sleep apnea and digestive issues, for which her doctor had no good answers.
The images in this tweet show proof of what the mother was dealing with in her infant daughter.

Iโm going to interpret this test for you here in a thread, through a very different lens than youโve provided here.
No shade on you at all sir, most people think to use this test through the lens of individual elements, but in my world this is an incorrect and outdated method of htma interpretation.
Letโs dig deeper ๐งต๐งต๐งต
The way I view an htma is primarily with an emphasis on the first four elements and the ratios thereof (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium).
The reasoning for this is threefold:
1. These four bigger elements (ca, mg, na and k) make up 99% of the mineral content in the body and therefore
2. They are under major homeostatic control via hormones
3. These four major elements and their balance also massively affects the way the rest of the elements are absorbed and utilized in the body

A thread ๐งต๐งต๐งต
In mineral balancing, we prioritize understanding mineral interactions more than anything else.โฃ
โฃ
To help people heal, we use a hair tissue mineral analysis test to get a reading of a persons entire mineral system (called the Ionome or Metallome in the literature) and then use our knowledge of nutrient and mineral interactions to balance that whole system of elements all at once time.โฃ
โฃ

But in order to achieve this goal of balancing the entire mineral systemโฆ..โฃ
โฃ
WE HAVE TO KNOW EXACTLY HOW ALL THE MINERALS INTERACT WITH EACH OTHER.
This post is about how mineral balancing works to eliminate heavy metals.
In this particular case study weโll be examining how MB is useful for aluminum detoxification.
Test # 1 in our sequence of HTMAs (January 2024):
My own hair test from January of this year.
This test shows a mildly fast metabolic rate (sodium/potassium higher relative to calcium/magnesium) along with fairly solid levels of zinc, selenium and phosphorus.
