This is a painting of Tzinacantecuhtli, Bat Lord, a servant of Mictlanteuchtli, the Lord of the Land of the Dead. When we die, our Teyollia, or Heart-Souls travel through the 9 levels of the underworld
At the eighth level, once our Teyollia has been purified and freed of ego, individuality, and memory, Tzinacantecuhtli carries us to the 9th and final level, to the throne of Mictlantecuhtli, where we are ushered to Tlalocan to await rebirth on earth
