This was one of the most challenging reporting assignments of my 20+ yrs covering politics: Spending the past two months talking to Democratic parents in New Jersey about the political implications of the pandemic. wsj.com/articles/covid…
Many told me how dismay over the Covid response—reopening schools, mask mandates, vaccine requirements, etc.—spurred them to break from their party & vote against Gov. Murphy. Most refused to speak on the record—fearful of upsetting friends or being attacked on social media.

First nugget from my new book, “Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost,” via @PunchbowlNews:
Sean Hannity scripted a TV ad for Trump in final weeks of the race & the campaign paid $1.5 million to air it on his Fox show.

Hannity denied any role in ad. He was slapped on the wrist by the network in 2016 for appearing in a Trump campaign spot.
Campaign emails refer to “the one Hannity wrote,” campaign aides confirmed the Fox anchor scripted the spot & Trump didn’t dispute.
