Yesterdat @DonaldShoup stopped by my office with the most recent (2019) ITE Parking Generation Manual. You'll recall that this is the bible of parking requirements, and has been lambasted for poor statistical methodology for 20 years now. The classic indictment, by Shoup himself, is below. Since then, the ITE has promised to do better. They are not doing better.

The California APA @APACalifornia is once again opposing parking reform. They done this before, and it's shortsighted and disappointing. A thread. By this point there’s basically a consensus that offstreet minimum parking requirements encourage driving, depress transit use, and obstruct infill housing. Their presence is antithetical to California’s climate, equity and affordability goals.
