Today Senator Canavan came out swinging at the Palaszczuk Government in his article regarding youth justice published by the The Courier Mail. It was an unfortunate politically opportunistic article which used a socioeconomic issue as a means of political point scoring. 1/25 May I say at the outset the expectations of our society for appropriate political action to be implemented regarding criminal justice is an expectation mutually shared by me. Tonight the branch members agreed to a motion that I, as the President of our ALP branch, may commence lobbying on behalf of the branch to seek @MrKRudd ‘s Media RC to be established, to address the political bias& ownership &, an extra term- the toxic character attacks. 1/ The biased reporting during the Vic State Election was the final straw for our branch. I have read Senator Price’s arguments several times now why she opposes a First Nations’ voice to parliament & I just can’t see the logic in her succumbing to the ultra-right arguments opposing this important constitutional step. The starting point for the senator to consider1/14 is this salient fact, namely an expansionist 18 & 19th century acquisition of land by the British Empire which enforced it’s form of law & government upon the First Nations culture of 60,000 years in this country by way of a lie, namely declaring Australia to be 2/14

The 2022 Federal Election has almost finished, but there is still the final count & declaration of the winners of the electoral divisions to go. We fortunately have a new government the Albanese Labor Govt. I have been considering the 4th estate in light of Gladysgate. @RonniSalt has written some intelligent materials about Morrison’s distraction politics and journalists chasing the dead cat in circumstances whereby Morrison has cried wolf more times than the actual fairytale. 1/18 Andrew Clennell of Sky News was laughing at 9 chasing the dead cat all week when it appeared he only took two telephone calls to ascertain Berejiklian was not running. The fact a member of the 4th estate knew this last Monday is very concerning. 2/18
