i know there's been a lot of discourse about this already but really what this says is that gervais is somehow completely devoid of insight about his own industry. he stands before a forest and says "what a funny coincidence, all these trees next to each other!" (thread) instructively, he recently made a david brent movie, suggesting that "woke culture" or whatever, isn't a barrier to making his stuff - but this actually raises a more interesting point about what does and doesn't get made these days
