The Minister of Health, @JaneRuth_Aceng updated the media on the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination exercise.
“Currently, 144,025 people have received their 1st dose of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine availed to Uganda under the COVAX facility and the Government of India” As of today, we have lowered the age of priority people targeted for vaccination. All persons aged 50 years and above and those aged 18 to 50 years with comorbidities such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, liver/heart/kidney disease are now eligible for COVID-19 vaccination.

Uganda registers 1st COVID-19 death.
A 34 year old Ugandan female,resident of Namisindwa District who presented with COVID like signs and symptoms: fever,dry cough,headache and difficulty in breathing.
Director General Health Services, @henrymwebesa confirms during a presser The deceased was initially admitted to Wasungui HC II on Wednesday, 15th July, 2020 and treated for severe pneumonia. However, on Monday, 20th July, 2020, she was transferred to Joy Hospice health facility, in Mbale District, where she was isolated in the female ward.
