Idk who needs this, but one of the few real skills taught in law school is research. It's simple, but still, there's no shame in not knowing - you can't know until you're taught! I paid way too much to learn this, but I want to give you the quick version right now: 🧵 1) you need a search tool that doesn't allow itself to be manipulated by folks with more cash to invest in search engine optimization (SEO). For this, I recommend using something through your local public library - most libraries will have subscriptions to academic databases

100% true for online ads - pressure to show face is even worse post-quarantines & post BP. & also, free-ad-site takedowns pushed countless wrkrs who were marginally online back into freestyling/the stroll/wrk through managers, feeding IRL surveillance - so, 2 more things:
• online surveillance is just an evolution of the irl surveillance all outdoor swrkrs have dealt with forever
• ad site shutdowns & raids are older than FOSTA. BP WAS TAKEN DOWN BEFORE FOSTA PASSED. And before that we lost MyRedBook, RentBoy. Eros was raided.

You know what is so fucking wild? I went to law school because I wanted to understand all of these opaque laws and regulations that fuck up sx wrkrs' & survivors' lives. I think I also wanted to prove to myself that I could do something so intellectually challenging. So now, I have these latin credits or whatever, right? juris doctor magna cum laude blah blah bullshit blah blah - and I don't want to downplay the hard work it took, but it did NOT teach me about sx wrk, about adult industries & our norms & culture & language or anything like that -

I now have long covid, but I've had similar symptoms, & a diagnosis common to long covid patients (POTS), for years. I've done chronic pain therapy, chronic illness therapy, CBT, DBT, etc etc - no amount of therapy has fixed my tachycardia, fatigue, pain - what HAS worked is meds I find it incredible that people with an interest in science, or who accept - as I do - the biopsychosocial model of illness - can also believe that we now have all of the testing and medical technology necessary to "see" all the markers of physical dysfunction in the body

It's almost impossible to find English-language news from Central Asia, but this is yesterday's gas line in the Andijan region of Uzbekistan. To the right, people are gathered around campfires in the snow. It's the only remaining region of the country with gas for sale In the west we too often ascribe this gas crisis solely to Putin or Russia or other corrupt govs, & that's politically expedient for us, but that's like blaming the final piece of straw. We've consumed recklessly & pretended our borders disconnect us from consequences others bear
