A thread of 10 youth players that I find interesting. ☀️Summer 2024 edition. If you enjoyed it drop a reply. If there are any not so obvious ones that you are keeping an eye on feel free to share. ⬇️ Image Tobias Palacio (17) 🇦🇷 is a right footed CB talent who has already captained Argentinas U17 team and is part of Argentine Jrs first team. An aggressive defender who is very good aerially is very mature for his age. PL clubs have started to scout him closely already. Image

Arne Slot took over Feyenoord in 21/22 where the starting line up from the previous season had mostly left. He only had 2 starters left in Kokcu & GK Bijlow. He helped build & nurture that team to finish 3rd in league & reached Europa conf league. Next season, he won the league. 1/4Image The biggest transfer fee paid in Arne Slot’s first year was €3.25M for RW Walemark. The biggest transfer fee paid in his second year when he won title was €8.3M for CB David Hancko. Arne also developed Mats Wieffer who was signed for just €575K. 2/3

Simply. Wow. Makes sense why Edwards said acquiring 2nd club was biggest factor in him coming back. FSG, ambitious plan looks amazing. Benfica’s Pedro Marques as Ornst reported is being targeted is absolutely a brilliant. Focus on scouting, youth, character dev, opportunity. Benfica’s Seixal, of course one of the best academies on the planet & he has been in charge since 2018Image Previously he worked at Man City since 2010 and worked with Mancini, Pelegrini, Pep. In 2014 he started coordinating training & development strategy with City Football group expansion clubs New York City FC, Yokohama Marinos, Melbourne City FC, Girona FC, Uruguay’s CA Torque FC

I wasn’t ready for next manager talk yesterday but it’s clear a lot of us are starting to ponder. I have a few thoughts on it. The club made it clear that data will be key to recruitment which tells me we will try to find someone who will have similarity in some aspects 1/8🧵 Perhaps tactically, philosophically, play style, etc. the announcement had to be made to allow us to formally approach & speak the coaches of interest. In these days and age it is hard to keep such things under wraps with leaks. 2/8

If we are ready to pay £115M for a player who was signed for 4.5M a year a half ago owners need vision to spend that to buy a club say in France/Portugal which will cost less & sign high potential youths who will save us these large spends & return x5 the investment in 5 years Image Chelsea bought Strasbourg few months ago for just £65M. Bournemouth owner foley bought large min stake in Lorient for less etc. there are lots of opportunities in Ligue 2 as well for historic clubs like Sochaux (example) that has fallen on hard times. This is why I think FSG won’t be around long term.

This story is worth repeating. This well known photo is of 2 black American athletes, Tommie Smith & John Carlos with raised fists during the national anthem in 1968 Mexico City Olympics to protest Racism & injustice. My thread however is of the guy on the left, 🇦🇺 Peter Norman /1 When collecting their medals, john Carlos asked Peter Norman If he believed in equality (yes), If he believed in god (yes) & then asked if he would stand him them (yes). The Americans had left a pair of gloves behind so it was Peter who asked they share a glove each, /2
