Dear #voters : do not let these people work you up. Here’s what you need to know about the Jeffries and Schumer meetings: (1) regardless of what was shared and/or suggested to POTUS by Congressional leadership, his response: “The President told both leaders he is the nominee of the party, he plans to win, and looks forward to working with both of them to pass his 100 days agenda to help working families.” @AndrewJBates46
washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/… (2) Three days ago (after both meetings), POTUS placed a call to @TheRevAl , founder and president of @NationalAction to inform him directly and have him share with us that he is going no where.

THREAD. As a member of the ever/reliable and too often devalued base of this party, a few thoughts:

People #onhere are in all seriousness flailing their arms demanding the most successful POTUS in recent history drop out the race because their polls say he can’t beat the only former president to ever be criminally indicted and who is also now a convicted felon awaiting sentencing. Do you hear yourselves? Shouldn’t you every single day be using every available breath to inform as many voters as possible how devastating it would be for them to re-elect a serial liar and criminal? The very real threat to our democracy? What it says about our country?

There’s this line from Moneyball: "The first one through the wall always gets bloody...". Exactly right. So not at all surprised to see these scared, fragile, jealous, intimidated, haters using every weapon in their arsenal against Sen. Harris right now. But those shrieking panicking insurrectionists aren’t the wall she’s breaking through. The wall always represents the last barrier for the old way—of thinking, of doing, of being. The one who breaks through is a LEADER.

The thing I think maybe some do not consider, take account of, make space for is the pain. The pain we feel when we experience racism. Not only the racism against us individually. But the racism unleashed against our brothers and sisters. Because that is what they are. Family. In my spirit today (real churchy—forgive me), what’s popping up is #kinsmanredeemer . In the Bible, kinsman-redeemer is a male relative who, according to laws of the Pentateuch, had the privilege/responsibility to act on behalf of a relative who was in trouble, danger, or need.

One of the reasons racism is persistent is because most racists would swear on their engraved bibles that they’re the least racist person you’ll ever meet. This racist loves everyone with the love of the Lord. Greets everyone with Jesus joy. Has been philanthropic for decades. This is not your hood-wearing, cross burning racist. They would find such vulgarity appalling. Wouldn’t be caught alive or dead fraternizing with a klansman, or a nazi enthusiast or a member of the aryan brotherhood or a professed white supremacist or white nationalist.
