Emergency Preparedness - A Balance Between Training & Education in Rwanda.

40 plus years on. One thing that has stuck on me like a leech is a Principle, I learned at the U.S. Army Command Staff College. That of “Training for Certainty and Educating for Uncertainty.”



Agencies within Rwanda and East Africa as a whole, spend a significant amount of resources training and educating their employees to perform specific tasks. Members of a variety of disciplines and organizations spend many hours learning.

Each year, experienced emergency management and first responder personnel are retiring from their careers, and retiring the vital skills that they spent their lifetimes learning.



We need to encourage the next generation of young adults to move into these fields, it is critical for the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the previous generations to be passed on through education, training, and mentorships.

During their service, military personnel acquire a broad range of lifesaving skills that are critical when on the frontline during wartime.

Effective medical triage, HazMat & Firefighting are some of the skills needed during combat and any major disaster or catastrophic event.





Partnering with Counties and other civilian stakeholders, military veterans can provide a unique perspective and training experience.

Sales of livestock products provide funds for purchasing crop inputs & for financing farm investments.
