It is getting very disheartening how disconnected people are from what the Twitter Files ACTUALLY say and what they WANT it to say. Some of these people are so far gone from reality and Musk is re-fueling their delusion. Absolutely fucking wild. The latest Twitter Files shows internal messages surrounding moderators grappling with the then POTUS constantly tweeting misinformation leading to Jan 6th. It's messy as they clearly grapple with their own internal rules. But that's it.

He declared it broken, sank its share value, and locked himself into a ridiculous deal that put him into billions in debt… …Once the deal went through, he fired all the people in charge, costing hundreds of millions in payouts. Then, to make up for all the debt, he’s issued massive and sudden layoffs (with lawsuits to follow) and began a hilarious plan to charge for a previously free feature…

I want to describe why the “mystery box” format tends to be very bad. And how to spot a bad one early. 🧵 While there’s nothing wrong with unraveling a mystery, often these shows use that as a way to hide very bad writing. Anything can happen that the writers need to happen, without explanation or motivation, so long as there’s a promise that “all will be answered eventually”.

Some context for Johnny Rotten. In the late-70s a lot of punks ironically adapted the swastika as a lazy way to piss off the older generation. Not everyone approved, and this turned out to be extremely dumb as it was later used by actual nazis to infiltrate the scene... Several years after this, bands like Dead Kennedys, Fugazi, and Black Flag would take a hard turn - specifically targeting Nazis because of this problem. This is where you get the much, MUCH better “nazi punks fuck off” mentality. Punk got a bit more political as well.

Been thinking about this festival called Holidays In The Sun. A mixed crowd of punks, skins, and small groups of nazis would show up. The first year I attended was in New Jersey, and there was a heavy police presence. I saw a lot of arrests, fights, a hotel or two got trashed… ...few years later I went to the festival in England. Same ratio of punks and skins and nazis. But it was far more peaceful. The nazis left after the first day because if they tried to come close to the show the skins and punks would eject them. And there wasn't a SINGLE COP.

I assume this is like the Covington video where everyone sees what they want to see. Maybe it's Biden being passionate - but to me it comes off as a messy barroom argument. He's not articulate, and it continues his weird streak of attacking voters instead of attacking lawmakers. Like this is just a theory, but it seems like the older "Cheeto-face" & "Drumpf" Democrat crowd are still functioning on the "Trump supporters are mindless idiots!" approach - which is absolutely not going to win the general election.

HBOs Watchmen is beginning to stray into that Westworld realm of “not explaining anything to make up for a lack of plot and characters” for me. I can only watch so many people stoically talk in riddles before I lose interest. Like… why build any kind of coherent tension when you can just have your characters say “tick-tock” a bunch to signify that something will surely happen at some point?

Spent the day periodically watching Death Stranding streams and, every time I check, the gameplay appears to be either:

1. Silently adjusting a giant menu.
2. Some baffling and endless cut scene.
3. The character slowly walking through the same rocky and gray terrain. Occasionally the streamer will murmur "what an interesting/weird game" as they waddle into the same brutalist concrete structure they've been going back to every time I check in. After hours and hours of streaming.
