Yesterday we received our @Ofstednews report which recognised a rapid transformation that made @AAWoodfields a GOOD school for the first time. What an important milestone for the community.

It was only a milestone.

What happened and what next?

1/10 I've written before about the changes that took place, however this is a good summary of what we achieved together over the first few months. We must improve outcomes and raised attendance. We see this next phase as a new turnaround.

Had an absolutely fantastic day at @ArkSoaneAcademy. Special thanks to @MJBurnage and @robertaorme for their support and guidance throughout the day. The students talked to me with genuine interest and made me feel welcome. This is a school that is genuinely improving lives. The approach to teaching is elegant in the simplicity of the approach. By knocking a smaller stable of TLAC out of the park, the whole school efficacy is out of this world.

The ability to appreciate something or someone breeds positivity and warmth. Recognising a contribution and showing gratitude requires and develops empathy. It builds culture positively. It has helped us transform the school rapidly.

How?

Short 🧵 1/7 We have an anonymous “appreciation” form that sends an E-mail. You can spend time guessing who might have sent it, and send another appreciation in return. This encourages gratitude and increases the time spent thinking about who might have recognised your contribution 2/7

This year big changes have happened @AAWoodfields. From humble beginnings, we now have a courteous and scholarly culture.

Where did we come from and how did this happen?

🧵 1/22 Our predecessor school was called Balby Carr Community Academy. It was raised as a "school of concern". Staff members told me that if there were categories below special measures, this would be it. Our reputation preceded us.
