SCOTUS deciding that it’s legal to discriminate against gay people has me thinking about Barney’s Beanery, the West Hollywood chili restaurant to at had this sign above the bar for decades.

🧵 1/x In 1970 — less than a year after Stonewall — the Gay Liberation Front organized a protest outside Barney’s Beanery. Filmmaker Pat Rocco was there to capture it, resulting in SIGN OF PROTEST (1970), a short documentary.

I missed a lot of the big stuff this year, which is honestly fine by me. I’ll catch up eventually.

This year I got an actual job writing (!!!) so I didn't have as much time for freelance reviews, but I managed to write about half of these! Hopefully they're ones you haven't seen that I can convince you are worth your time, or at least are worth thinking about in a new way.
