Vince Lombardi is one of the great coaches in NFL History.

He led The Green Bay Packers to 5 Championships in 7 years. !!

But they were an awful 1-10 the year before he took over.

This is what he did to create a winning culture: Image Before Lombardi arrived, the Packers had nothing going for them.

- They didn't work hard in practice
- They didn't mind losing
- No winning seasons in 11 years

In his first year with the team they had a winning season and he was named NFL Coach of the Year.

Leadership changes are happening at all levels of struggling tech companies right now.

Turning things around while you are inside a sinking ship is difficult but not impossible.

If I was taking over a struggling company today, here is what I'd do: I'd get on stage and share the hard truths of the situation.

No fluff. Extreme vulnerability.

People will believe in a leader before they will believe in a vision. And change won't happen without the support of the people.

This starts with being honest and establishing Trust.

Moments before meeting with community leaders at his church, Martin Luther King, Jr. was nervous.

He didn't know how many of the community leaders would respond to the call for a boycott.

What would happen if the community was not there to respond? Segregation laws required black passengers to sit at the back of the bus, even if there were no white passengers filling the seats up front.

This is in addition to being called racial slurs by the bus drivers and sometimes forced to enter the bus through the back door.

Here are 4 things you should know about your team that will increase their engagement: Names

Know their names.
Know their kid's names.

Have you ever wondered who the REAL decision-makers are in your city?

Every year, I lead a community leadership cohort that connects aspiring leaders with local officials and executives.

The program also generates 6-figure revenue for my non-profit.

Here’s how I do it 🧵 Image The program is called Leadership Salem.

There are two primary benefits to this program:

1. We connect participants with a new group of peers
2. We provide access to a behind-the-scenes look at our city

The content is great, but the relationships are the real gold.

My grandpa lived on half an acre in a small town that spoke more Spanish than English.

On one side of the property was a two-bedroom home that looked like someone built it with their bare hands.

Mismatched cinder blocks held up an almost level deck in front.

It was great. On the other side of his property was a mobile home.

Between the two homes was a big yard and a huge tree I was always too scared to climb.

This was over 30 years ago, but it’s still what I think about when I think of him.
